Roxbury is pleased to announce publication of the Third Edition of MAKING CONNECTIONS: READINGS IN RELATIONAL COMMUNICATION, edited by Kathleen M. Galvin and Pamela J. Cooper.

The anthology has been updated and expanded to include 17 new articles, 7 written specifically for this edition. These essays include a new introduction to relation theories as well as related issues such as forgiveness, nagging, lesbian and gay male relationships, communicating about sex, sibling relational maintenance, and child physical abuse.

Additionally, the new theory chapter provides background for many of the other articles in the book. Topics such as intercultural relationships, listening, relational maintenance, and technology are treated in greater depth. Based on reader feedback, organizational communication has been de-emphasized.

The articles in MAKING CONNECTIONS were selected from the recent work of communication scholars, theorists, and popular writers, with a balance between humanistic and social science perspectives. The Third Edition continues to:

Editors Galvin and Cooper maintain the same framework as in previous editions, using gender, family, and culture as "lenses" through which to view and make sense of relational communication. Connecting Points for each section provide experiential applications of relevant concepts, a feature that enhances the links between theory and practice for students.
