Through carefully planned literature-based fiction and nonfiction activities, each title includes organizational tips, special techniques for classroom management such as using clever rhymes and special sign language, literature pictures, and a diagram of a sample room layout. Thirty-six one-hour lessons at each grade level follow six instructional strands consisting of literary skills, literature appreciation, techniques of learning, comprehension, writing experience, and oral language with a wide variety of related activities. The lessons are grouped by child-appealing topics such as frogs, insects, ducks, etc. Featured subject-related titles, objectives for lessons, a list of materials to gather prior to the lesson, tasks to complete before class, and a lesson plan with an easily adaptable step-by-step format to fit into a variety of time constraints are all provided.
