About the Author
J. M. Redmann grew up in coastal Mississippi, headed north and graduated from Vassar, and has been living in New Orleans for the past fifteen years.

Redmann launches a series featuring Michelle "Mickey" Knight, a detective haunted by ghosts from her abusive childhood and driven by a desire to protect others in the seamy, steamy netherworlds of New Orleans. Her compulsion to save a friend's little girl from suspected sexual abuse, however, jeopardizes her relationship with her lover Cordelia, a beautiful physician; her friends and professional associates; and, eventually, her own life as she goes underground to penetrate the veils of secrecy concealing a well-organized kiddie porn ring. Knight is a gutsy, fast-thinking PI in the Raymond Chandler tradition but has a sardonic ruefulness and humor that are pure 1990s.
