A former Alabama State Trooper, Orrin Hudson won the Birmingham City Chess Championships in 1999 and 2000. Soon after, he formed Be Someone, a non-profit that has used chess to help 16,000 children believe in themselves. Orrin received the National Self-Esteem Award and a dozen other community service awards from organizations that include the Atlanta Braves, TBS, Harvard and the NAACP.
