From the Publisher

"When Bill Vancil was diagnosed with prostate cancer he raced to find a cure. In the process, he found the symmetry that was his life. Choosing proton radiation treatment at Loma Linda University Medical Center in southern California, he and daughter Tori Lou embarked on a 'once in a lifetime' journey of discovery that covered over seven thousand miles. More than a book about cancer, it is a must-read story for anyone who thinks, feels, hopes and prays. Emotion flows through tears, laughter and discovery; taking a little of each of us along for the ride. There's enlightenment in every chapter."

From the Author

This book started out as a "compelling memoir" but has turned into a vehicle for spreading the word about a form of treatment for prostate cancer that most surgeons and urologists never mention - usually because they have never heard of it. Proton beam therapy is a proven treatment offered at only three places in the U.S. at this time. The book explains proton therapy from the vantage point of a man who was successfully treated. It offers some technical information, but does not read like a textbook. The adventures, interaction and bonding of a 63 year old dad who's dodged a bullet and a 13 year old daughter ascending into adolescence is the heart of the story. Since publication I have met and/or heard from several men who have chosen proton treatment at Loma Linda University Medical Center as a direct result of reading the book or hearing one of my radio or TV interviews. This is a book that will make you laugh and make you cry. And, in the right hands...it will help save lives.
