About the Author:

George Bird Grinnell was a historian, naturalist, explorer, sportsman, and conservationist. He helped to establish Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. He co-founded the first Audubon Society, and along with Teddy Roosevelt, co-founded the Boone and Crockett Club. Grinnell was a long-time editor of Field and Stream and wrote several landmark books on the Pawnee, Blackfoot, and Cheyenne. A professional editor, Joseph A. Fitzgerald has had a life-long love for the tribes of the Plains and is an adopted Grandson of Thomas Yellowtail, a Crow Sun Dance chief.
