Maria Rousakis (or Rousaki) was born in New York in 1974. Her family is originally from a small mountain village named, Alagonia, on the outskirts of Kalamata city in southern Greece. Maria has lived in Athens since 1985. She studied sociology at the American Community College of Greece-Deree College. She has worked as a journalist and real estate agent but her greatest passion is writing for children of all ages, from picture books to children's novels.
