Kathy Hartzold has been teaching for twenty-six years. Her experience includes teaching in Title 1 and teaching first grade. She is now a reading specialist at Chatham Elementary School in Chatham,Illinois. Kathy received the Ball-Chatham Community School District's Award for Excellence and she was among the top 10 teacher finalists for her state's 1998 Award for Excellence. She has also been a presenter at the Reading Recovery Conference. Her passion is helping struggling readers to become confident and to improve their literacy skills. Tricia Burke began her career in education as a classroom teacher. She has taught kindergarten through second grade and now, as a reading specialist, she works with first, second, and third graders. An award-winning teacher in her district of Ball-Chatham,Illinois, Tricia loves to collaborate with and learn from other educators. Her passion is teaching young childrento read, and she continually searches for new ways to reach struggling readers.
