About the Author:
A resident of Brooklyn, New York, Sorah Shapiro is a journalist who writes for major secular and Jewish publications. Multi talented and multifaceted, with a kaleidoscopic background in law, advertising, psychology, education, Judaic studies, graphic arts and music, it is no wonder she is affectionately referred to as "Renaissance Woman." Supplementing her full time career, she has employed her talents to facilitate the integration of Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet empire and has been honored for her volunteerism in medical institutions. She is a frequent speaker at women's groups in New York and adjacent states on a wide variety of Jewish and secular topics. She is the author of City on Fire, an anthology on 9/11, Nation on Fire, an anthology on terrorism in the Holy Land, and Trials and Triumphs, a volume of inspirational stories of hope and inspiration. About these stories, Joel Carlmichael, editor of Midstream Magazine, wrote: A"I have been reading your stories with rapt attention. You are an entirely original writer. Your wit has given your stories a pervasive irony whose charm is unique. By jolting your characters out of their rhythm and producing chaos in their universe, you have created heroes for the world to admire. You are definitely meant for a large and expanding readership...A" Nisson Wolpin, editor of The Jewish Observer, wrote,"Gifted writers dip their pens in many an inkwell. Each has his or her own favorites. Sorah Shapiro's pen flows with the pulse-beat of a compassionate heart, the tremors of a yearning neshama.A"
