Autism Society of America's Outstanding Literary Award Winner! Social relationships are key to school and life success! The textbook, Building Social Relationships: A Systematic Approach to Teaching Social Interaction Skills to Children and Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorders and Other Social Difficulties, addresses the critical need for social skills programming for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other social difficulties. It is unique in presenting a comprehensive model that incorporates five fundamental steps: assessing social functioning, distinguishing between skill acquisition and performance deficits, selecting intervention strategies, implementing intervention, and evaluating and monitoring progress. Rather than promoting a single strategy, this social skills model details how to organize and make sense of the myriad social skills programs and resources available. Building Social Relationships is the winner of the Autism Society of America's Outstanding Literary Award.
