The Corvette is in a league of its own. With a fanatical following and legendary performance reputation, GM has continuously produced model after memorable model starting in 1953 and continuing today. As long as there is a car culture, the Corvette will continue to appeal to legions of enthusiasts. As such, these most of these cars will require a restoration during their lifetime, and that's where this book comes in. While some Corvette concourse restorations will be entrusted to professional restoration shops, many knowledgeable and skilled owners take pride in performing restoration work on their own.

The Corvette C2, or second generation Corvette, is among the most popular of all Corvettes ever built. This book offers an ample amount of step-by-step information in color and focus on real-world restoration techniques. In addition, it contains essential authenticity information and key considerations involved in the restoration process. This guide will cover all aspects of the restoration process, including engines and drivelines, bodywork, paint, interior and trim, suspension, brakes, chassis, and steering.

Author Chris Petris owns and runs Petris Enterprises, a respected Corvette restoration and parts supply business and has been a Bloomington Gold School Technical Instructor for 9 years. Corvette owners are a discriminating group and you are shown how to restore your car and retain the originality of the car within practical budgets. Whether you would like to try and tackle your own restoration, or simply want to know how the successful pros like Petris do it, this Restoration Series title has you covered.

From the Back Cover:
When the second-generation Corvette was released in 1963, the ground-breaking fastback styling, distinctive split-window design, and gorgeous body lines were a vast improvement over its predecessor. With How to Restore Your Corvette: 1963-1967, noted Corvette restorer and NCRS judge Chris Petris shows you everything you need to know to expertly return a second-generation Corvette to its former glory. Selecting the right Corvette for your skills, budget, and time frame is explained. All of the factors to determine the type of restoration (concours, regular driver, or something in between) is discussed in detail, so you determine the best level of restoration for your project. Also, Petris provides valuable techniques for restoring a Corvette to NCRS and Bloomington Gold standards. To repair and restore a C2’s fiberglass body requires special tools and techniques that differ dramatically from the metal bodywork required for other collector cars. Bodywork, priming, and painting are all interdependent and Petris details how best to repair, prime, and finish the body. He profiles engine building and presents the correct finishes, graphics, and fasteners to use for accurate and original restoration. If your original transmission needs a rebuild, you can find the specifics for bringing it up to snuff, including a Muncie 4-speed rebuild. In addition, you are shown how to restore both disc and drum brakes to original condition and the best upgrades available. The author also covers how to recondition suspension components, restore a rear differential, air conditioning, ignition distributors, alternators, seats, dash, carpet, and so much more. If you’re looking for the one book to guide you through a complete and professional-caliber C2 restoration, you’ve found it.
