The Supervisor Training Curriculum trains current and prospective supervisors in evidence-based strategies of supervising and motivating staff working with people with intellectual disabilities. Based on three decades of applied research, each management strategy presented herein has been tested and known to work in human service settings. The Curriculum follows a performance and competency-based format, requiring trainees to demonstrate knowledge acquired through role plays and other classroom activities as well as on-the-job demonstration of skills.
Since 1876, the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD) has been providing worldwide leadership in the field of disabilities. AAIDD is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization of professionals and citizens concerned about intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Dennis H. Reid is the lead author of the Curriculum and has worked in the human services for over 35 years as a clinician, manager, and consultant, and has published over 100 applied research articles and authored or co-authored seven books. Dr. Reid is the founder and current Director of the Carolina Behavior Analysis and Support Center in Morganton, North Carolina, where he works with schools, residential agencies, and supported work settings. Marsha B. Parsons is Director of the Dogwood Resource Center at the J. Iverson Riddle Center in Morganton, North Carolina, and has over 45 peer-reviewed journal article publications and has coauthored 3 books. She has over 30 years of supervisory experience. Carolyn W. Greene is a Senior Management Consultant with the Carolina Behavior Analysis and Support Center and has over 30 years of supervisory experience. She has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles and co-authored two books, and is the recipient of the North Carolina Governor's award for exemplary service.
