About the Author:

C. Mark Smith spent his forty-year professional career managing economic development organizations at the local, state, and federal levels, but his personal interests have always revolved around history, politics, community service--and a good glass of wine. As a young man, he knew Harry Cain and credits him with influencing his own decision to enter public service. Smith lives with his wife, Elsa, in Richland, Washington.
