This book is about the art and application of Clinical Kinesiology, and serves as an introduction to the energetic system that links mind and body. It shows how the body can "talk," and therefore be used as a diagnostic tool to measure a wide variety of its own functions, and to determine which healing approach will best suit an individual.
Clinical Kinesiology is the modality that allows us to interpret this new "body talk." This method of muscle-testing "reads" the body's innate wisdom; when "asked" a question, or presented with a stimulus, the muscles respond clearly, either strongly or weakly. This system, which expedites the application of acupuncture, also helps realign the body's energy imbalances.
Far from being a scholarly or scientific text, Your Body Can Talk is written for the immediate use of the practitioner or layperson. It extends beyond the merely physical domain, showing the critical role that emotions play in maintaining physical health. It also presents a number of adjunct healing systems, such as the use of Bach Flower Remedies to heal chakra (energy center) imbalances.
Armed with this deeper understanding of the body's multileveled energetic system, readers will find specific methods of fighting disease that emphasize the problems with unnecessary drugs, antibiotics and immunization, and the need for a fortified immune system ― especially through natural foods.
Other topics include: rebuilding the body's ecology after an overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria or Candidiasis; how to maintain the integrity of the energy system through minimizing exposure to unhealthy electromagnetic fields or EMFs; optimal health for woman; and issues of men's health.
New material in this 2nd edition includes an extensive chapter on children's health, which addresses pregnancy, birthing procedures and breastfeeding, and illustrates a road map for giving your children (and children yet to come) the best potential for optimal health.
Unlike other similar books, Your Body Can Talk provides the average reader with simple tools to begin evaluating their own health status, transforming the reader from being a victim of the medical system to thriving as a self-sufficient health consumer.
Self-testing instructions and treatment recommendations for unique health problems are found at the end of each chapter.

Susan L. Levy, D.C. has extensive training in massage, polarity therapy, nutrition, herbology, is a registered nurse, a Chiropractor, and is certified in acupuncture by the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. Her popular seminars, newsletters, and articles emphasize natural health care through balance, harmony, expertise, and love. She continues to research pathways to assist her patients as expediently as possible, and is eager to share this remarkable approach with her colleagues. She lives in Colorado where she was name Chiropractor of the Year in 1985.
A strong jolt and the sound of crunching metal shattered my peaceful morning drive. I knew instantly I'd been rear-ended. Being a doctor, I hopped out to see if the driver of the other car had been hurt. Luckily, she was fine, so I proceeded on to my office and a full day of treating patients.
As the day wore on, however, I began experiencing a bit of neck and upper back pain, so I scheduled some basic Chiropractic treatment which addressed the spine and muscles. I felt confident the problem wasn't serious. I was wrong. The pain persisted on and off for the next five years! Many times, by the end of a long day of treating others, areas in my middle back were spasmed and burning. I kept treating and hoping.
Then, in 1989 during an acupuncture seminar, I met a colleague who gave me new hope. Dr. Burt Espy had trained for four years with Dr. Alan Beardall, the originator of Clinical Kinesiology energetic muscle testing. Although I had previously investigated Dr. Beardall's clinic, I'd never been evaluated with the technique.
Dr. Espy offered to assess and treat my mid-back pain. With Clinical Kinesiology testing, he "asked" my body what was wrong and my body "talked" back. Based on what my body "said," Dr. Espy quickly determined that my problem didn't stem from the accident but from an underlying heart imbalance. That discovery marked the turning point in my recovery and the beginning of my personal experience with this amazing method for accessing the body's wisdom.
In a few months I fully regained the health I had lost five years before. My quick recovery inspired me to begin learning this intriguing technique. With my condition dramatically improved, and new knowledge gained, I was so impressed with Dr. Burt Espy that I married him!
For many years prior to this experience I'd integrated a holistic viewpoint into my Chiropractic practice. I'd conducted numerous classes, lectures and seminars for my patients, the public, special groups of nurses and even medical doctors, which enabled me to educate others on wide-ranging topics involving alternative healthcare.
After a year of extensive study with Dr. Espy and others, I began incorporating Clinical Kinesiology evaluation and testing procedures into my practice and educating my patients with it.
The message of this book is simple: Yes, there is help. Yes! You can solve your health problems. Clinical Kinesiology can help you to hear what your body already knows about health and well-being
