Pattern Matrices evaluate the ability to find the next step in a geometric series, based on a set of rules. Children need to understand the rule and predict what shape would come next by applying the same rule. Pattern matrices are typically presented as a three by three or two by two matrix. There are 60 practice items at various levels that are suitable for most young school-aged children. Practicing these problems will enable children to perform to the best of their ability on test day. Pattern Matrices are covered on the OLSAT, Stanford-Binet, and NNAT-2.
