About the Author

Kerry Mataya, MSED, is the founder of Autism Asperger Syndrome Consulting Group, LLC, and Asperger Connection, Inc. In the Alabama area, she has provided almost 10 years of educational consulting, after-school social groups, and summer camps, including overnight camp, drama camp, sports camp, and play-with-me camp. She received her master's degree from the University of Kansas with an emphasis on autism spectrum disorders. Penney Patterson Owens, MED, BCBA, works as a behavioral and educational consultant. She has taught in the classroom as a special education teacher and is now working to educate teachers, parents, and students about positive behavior support and behavior analysis. Penney received her master's degree from Vanderbilt University in early childhood special education. Her thesis and previous research explored receptive and expressive language interventions with children with autism. She works both in and out of the classroom to provide students with comprehensive interventions between home and school.
