Mataya (founder of Autism Asperger Syndrome Consulting Group, LLC, and Asperger Connection, Inc.) and Owens (behavioral and educational consultant and special education teacher) book offers a new approach to autism counseling. Rather than interventions focused on simply controlling behaviors, the authors? approach allows choice and self-direction, thus increasing cooperation and reducing negative behaviors. Mataya and Owen?s valuable and concise book has four chapters: What is the Problem-Solving Chart; How to Use the Problem Solving Chart; Data Collection and Assessment; and Real-Life Applications of the Problem-Solving Chart. The book includes frequently asked questions; references and an appendix of reproducible forms. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
