Narrators include Kalpona, a leading Bangladeshi labor organizer who led her first strike at 15; Han, who, as a teenager, began assembling circuit boards for an international electronics company based in Seoul; Albert, a copper miner in Zambia who, during a wage protest, was shot by representatives of the Chinese-owned mining company that he worked for; and Sanjay, who grew up in the shadow of the Bhopal chemical disaster, one of the worst industrial accidents in history.

About the Author:

Corinne Goria is a writer and lawyer. Her fiction has been featured in The Silent History, The Far East Project, The San Diego Writer’s Anthology, and the 2011 &Now Festival. She has practiced immigration law since 2007 and was assistant editor of Underground America: Narratives of Undocumented Lives (Voice of Witness, 2008). She has lived and worked in South Africa, Sicily, and Mexico. She currently lives in San Diego, CA.
