Synopsis

Life with his father and stepmother meant neglect and abuse, but at least José Adán had food and clothing. Life with his mother offered freedom and a sense of belonging, but he often went hungry and had no money for school. José Adán bounced back and forth between the two, his heart starved for the love and security that neither home could offer.
This is the true story of a boy's quest for love and belonging-a search that eventually led him to the Author of love Himself. But José Adán's loneliness left him vulnerable, and as a young man he turned his back on his church and his God to embrace the world's counterfeit . . . all for love.
But God, whose protecting hand had been on José Adán since he was a boy, would not let him go easily, and José Adán was finally brought to his knees by the chastisement of the Shepherd who gave His life for sinners and who relentlessly pursues His sheep gone astray . . . all for Love.

About the Author

Pablo lives with his wife Euni and four of their children-Janie, Luana, Cynthia, and Kenny-in Waslala, Nicaragua, where he serves as an evangelist and minister of a local congregation. Their two oldest children, Jacinto and Jessica, have families of their own. Jacinto and his wife Kendra live in Zapote Kum, where Jacinto pastors a church. After her husband Jonathan's death, Jessica and her four children moved into a house Jacinto had built on Pablo's property.
In preparation for this book, José Adán took Pablo back to El Varillal and showed him the site where the house he was born in had once stood, the place where he sat in the rain for hours hoping a fer-de-lance would strike him dead, and his four hideouts-north, south, east, and west-which he used so often when his father was gone. On the way home, as they hiked the slippery, muddy trails, he stopped and pointed to a pile of logs. With deep emotion he told Pablo of his devotional reading when God did a wonderful miracle in his heart and gave him a heart to forgive.
It was initially José Adán's forgiveness and love for his family that inspired Pablo to write this story. Later, God's relentless pursuit of the child He loved became an even more powerful theme in José Adán's life.
Pablo has dedicated more time to writing over the past few years, but he enjoys many hobbies as well. His house is surrounded by an orchid collection growing on the many different types of trees he's planted. A pond next to the house attracts a variety of birds and other wildlife. When he needs a mid-forenoon break, you'll see him taking a stroll, checking his orchids and feeding their pet alligator in the pond. In fact, you can't really get to know Pablo without hearing him talk about nature-and the Creator who crafted it. If you would like to know more about Pablo and his family, read Angels Over Waslala, its sequel, Angels in the Night, and The Long Road Home, all available from Christian Aid Ministries. His two nature books The Work of Thy Fingers and My Father's World are also available from CAM.
