Ways to accurately date vintage golf balls are discussed. Photos and useful information about the golf balls in the author’s collection are presented and discussed. About this title

About the Author

The author was born in Connecticut and began playing golf when he was only ten years old. His love of the game of golf has continued throughout his life. He has a PhD from Yale University in organic chemistry and has spent over thirty years working to synthesize new compounds for use in industry. He is the author of over forty technical journal papers, chemical society talks, and book contributions. He has written and received over seventy five US patents. This is his first non-fiction book. In September 2015, after accumulating a number of Titleist and Pinnacale golf balls, he began a golf ball collection. His initial focus was to better understand the dimple patterns on the surface of the golf ball because the dimple arrangement and the number of dimples is the only thing that one can determine by visual inspection alone. He soon learned that his training in chemistry and his experience in reading and writing patents provide a strong foundation for the ambitious project on which he has embarked. He continues to play golf on a regular basis and wants to tell others about what he has learned about golf balls.
