On a dark moonless night, deep in the desert and away from prying eyes, the sound of women's voice is heard. They are murmuring chants and invoking the name of a goddess named Sophia as they pass the honey and the milk that celebrates the gender of their god. All is quiet except for an eerie, hypnotic sound that drifts by, carried on the wind. Women's voices are heard, invoking the name of Creator-Mother. "Sophia!" they intone, as they pass the rice milk and honey beverage which they believe celebrates the sensuality of womanliness. The humming and chanting and partaking of sweet liquids gradually subside; the women begin to blend their voices in song. Finally, the singing stops. The festival ends. It's time for the participants to return home. They carry with them the thrill of having broken some rules and having set the church world on its ear by singing songs and prayer to a pagan goddess, a carryover from the mystery religions of old Babylon. Did these events really happen? Yes, but not in a deserted countryside on a moonless night. In reality, the name of the goddess Sophia was invoked by a group of church people....
