Review

Amy Hollabaugh, M.Ed
This book is a very clever way to introduce children to the concept of peer pressure, temptation and consequences of following the crowd. The catchy rhythm, cute illustrations, and interesting storyline will keep the attention of young readers and listeners!

Marge LaPorte, M.Ed., NBCT
This outstanding read has earned two thumbs up!  This is a story that appeals to a variety of ages.  The story line captures a message of temptation, choices, and peer pressure.  However, an equally powerful message contained within is that of forgiveness.  This fantasy is brought to life through adorable characters who immediately capture the hearts of its readers.  Through the adventures of these characters, it quickly becomes evident that every choice has its own positive or negative consequence.

This incredibly creative story is one I would recommend to children and adults as a subtle yet poignant way of bringing awareness to the issue of addiction. Through the playful camaraderie of the caterpillars, the author broaches the subjects of temptation, choices, and peer pressure, all the while providing hope and encouragement through the unconditional love and forgiveness of friendship. Its focus on Joyous Jayden’s realization that joy comes from within and not from an external source is an excellent tool for self-evaluation. Lastly, it reminds us all to stay true to self and who we are created to be in Christ Jesus.
