"When I read the book Spiders Dance to Hailey, my little six year old kindergarten student, she was very engaged in the story and performed the activities that 'people are able to do.'
Hailey's concern for Spider's plight increased as the book progressed and she asked 'will Spider ever be able to dance?' Delight and relief for Spider was evident as we discovered that Spider in fact did have 'rhythm and balance, ' and that he COULD DANCE!
This little kindergartner said, as we began the book, that 'spiders give her the creeps.' By the end of the book, she agreed that this spider was very cute and perhaps she will look at spiders in a different way in the future." Susan
"A story of resilience and overcoming adversities. Spiders Dance will warm your heart!"

Author Maureen "Micki" Carroll had never tried to herd cats before setting out to coordinate the work of seventeen other Kansas and Missouri artists for the book, The Tree Who Walked Through Time - A Tree Identification Story, and to reach their goal of raising $25,000 for children's art education, but she has never known the meaning of the word "can't." Carroll is a writer of books and articles, including a series on diversity. She researches and writes historical non-fiction and historical fiction, inspirational books, and children's books. Carroll is also a business writer creating courses, workshops, and programs for business and community leaders. You can find out more about Micki's business writing experience at: HCap International. A lover of rocks and trees since she was a little girl climbing in the Colorado Rockies, Maureen has worn many hats over the years, including linguist and cultural anthropologist, mom, public speaker, gluten-free cook, teacher, photographer, writer, graphic designer, and all-around Seeker of Truth. Maureen graduated from the University of Kansas and has taught conflict management classes throughout the United States and Great Britain. She enjoys reading, researching, and writing about quantum mechanics.
Bobbie Powell graduated in 2005 from KU with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, majoring in Painting. Since graduating she has sold work at the "Holiday Art Fair" (Lawrence Arts Center) and "Art in the Park" in Anthony, KS. She has shown work at the new and old Lawrence Public Library, The Merc (Lawrence, KS), The Arboretum (Overland Park, KS), The Mulvane Museum of Art (Topeka, KS), and Powell Gardens (Kingsville, MO). Bobbie has shown art in many of the Final Friday art celebrations in Lawrence since 2009 and is still actively showing with groups at varying locations around Lawrence. Bobbie has also shown in one Kansas City art show during their First Friday events. A mural was painted as a donation of time for the nursing and elder care home in Anthony, KS. Bobbie's latest works include painting donated to a children's book project titled, "The Tree Who Walked Through Time". The proceeds from that project go to the Mulvane Museum of Art's Children's Art Lab in Topeka, KS, a place for children to explore art using a plethora of mediums, all materials being provided to the kids for free. Bobbie is also working on her first illustration project with author, Maureen Carroll, entitled, "Spider's Dance". Bobbie's true passion is found in caring for her two children, Sophia and Amos. She delights in reading Spider's Dance to them and has even included their likenesses in the book.
