Synopsis

Illustrator Julie Dupré Buckner captures the hues of Valley life, from the bright butterflies gracing the grasslands to the clear night sky shining with stars. The book also contains a glossary of terms and detailed map to help place the people and the places in context. The history and the heart of the Valley and its inhabitants, both human and animal, fill every page of this informative and essential picture book.

About the Author
Rickey Pittman is an award-winning storyteller, author, and folksinger. The author of more than ten books and three CDs, Pittman is a tireless performer, constantly conducting appearances at schools, libraries, festivals, conventions, and workshops, including many in the Rio Grande Valley. A certified secondary gifted English teacher, Pittman currently teaches college level freshman composition and literature for Delta Community College, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Virginia College Online. Pittman earned a BA in New Testament Greek and an MA in English Literature from Abilene Christian University. He can be found online at bardofthesouth.com.
Julie Dupré Buckner is an award-winning artist who specializes in painting, portrait art, illustration, and design. Her portrait work is held in private collections through the US and she has illustrated numerous childrens books. A member of the Portrait Society of American and the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators, Buckner resides in Plaquemine, Louisiana. She can be found online at jdbuckner.com
