Synopsis

There’s never been a woman wind rider,

And never a wind rider without wings.

To find her missing brothers, Morning Star will need to be both

Or die trying.

Blaming herself for her brothers’ disappearance, Star has only ten days to search the Wind River and return home before it stops blowing. As she struggles to reach all twenty-four gates of Rahm, she soon discovers her simple world is far more complex and alien than she ever imagined.

She uncovers a strange object called a book and learns that a common blessing—Back up the files—has a deeper, darker meaning.

Three teens accompany Star on her dangerous quest: one to guard her, one to stop her, and one to use her against those secretly in control of their world.

About the Author

Liz Roadifer is an award-winning author who loves putting twists in herstories. Born in New Jersey, 14 miles from New York City, she now liveswith her family in Wyoming.

The seeds of my YA dystopian/sciencefiction story were planted while I lived on the Wind River Reservationin Wyoming for six years. Both of my children were born while we taughtin the school there. It was a privilege to live among such amazingpeople whose traditions, family, and tribes are a mainstay for all whocall the Wind River home. The tribes created in this story are aconglomerate of the many Native American nations in our country.

As for why I write in the other two such different genres, the answer iseasy. My brain needs balance. After months writing a fast-paced thriller about murder and mayhem, danger and testy relationships, it's nice totake a mental vacation and write about love and humor, magic and mayhem. Yes, mayhem is a constant because without conflict a book would beboring. At least in my romantic fantasies, the mayhem isn't sohard-edged and desperate. Plus it's fun to visit the magical town ofPeace & Prosperity and explore its wide range of eccentric andmythical citizens, its back alleys, crazy laws, and fantastic shops. One never knows who or what is waiting around the corner. With pesky, playful, fun-loving fairies around, it's never a dull moment.
