John R. Wink is superintendent of schools for Blue Ridge ISD in Blue Ridge, TX. He formerly served as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the Tatum Independent School District in Tatum, TX. Prior to that, John served as principal at Gilmer Elementary School (2011-2014), where he led the school through improvement status to academic distinction. As principal of Hallsville Middle School (2002-2008), he led the school from acceptable to exemplary status in four years, and as principal of Hallsville High School (2008-2011), he led the school to become one of the top academic high schools in Texas.
John earned a bachelor of music in vocal performance from Stephen F. Austin State University, a master of education administration from Texas A&M University-Texarkana, and his superintendent's certificate from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Prior to his work as an administrator, John was the choir director at Longview High School in Longview, Texas, from 1996-2002, where numerous students earned membership into the Texas All-State Choir. His choirs earned numerous first-division and sweepstakes honors. John and his wife, Carolyn, have four children: Hunter, Hannah, Holly, and Haley.
