About the Author:

Katherine M. Lawrence is a student of martial arts and things Japanese. Over the years, she has trained in martial arts halls led by women: Ja Shin Do, where she was a student in residence; the San Jose State University Kendo Club; and Pai Lum White Lotus Fist--Crane Style. Katherine graduated from the University of Washington with a double-major in History and in Chemistry and continued in Master's Degree studies at the University of Washington's Far Eastern and Slavic Institute. She received an MBA from Harvard.
