Synopsis
The Bearpaw children learn of a white buffalo calf that is born on a ranch far from their home. The family leaves on a spontaneous pilgrimage in their camper to take gifts to the newborn. The children had grown up with the story of the White Buffalo Calf Woman, the powerful spirit who saved a starving tribe in ancient times, and had been reborn in the form of a white buffalo. But the white calf is protected by its large mother. What will happen to the children in the moonlight inside the corral?
The book includes the original legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman as well as step-by-step instructions with illustrations on how to make a dreamcatcher.

From the Author
The ancient legend of White Buffalo Woman has been shared in different ways by many tribes, but the central belief remains the same: a helpful spirit becomes a white buffalo, heralding the return of prosperity to her people, where needs are met and hopes fulfilled. The chances of a white buffalo being born is one in ten million; when this event actually occurred in the United States in the 1990s, the white calf was named Miracle.
About the Author
Award-winning author and illustrator Kim Doner loves kids, critters, and creating. A native Oklahoman, she is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator who is active in the arts and advocates for literacy. Her favorite way to accomplish this is through author visits to schools; she can be contacted through kim@kimdoner.com.
