Using construction as their metaphor, authors Joe Tye and Bob Dent make a compelling case that an organization s invisible architecture a foundation of core values, a superstructure of organizational culture, and the interior finish of workplace attitude is no less important than its visible architecture. Further, they assert that culture will not change unless people change, and people will not change unless they are inspired to do so and given the right tools.
Building a Culture of Ownership in Healthcare takes readers on a journey from accountability to ownership[md]providing a proven model, strategies, and practical solutions to help improve organizational culture in the healthcare setting. Learn how investing in your organization and your people can enable a significant, successful change in productivity; employee engagement; nurse satisfaction, recruitment, and retention; quality of care; patient satisfaction; and financial outcomes.

Once in a while, you pick up a book you don t want to put down. This is one of those! Presented in a conversational style with analogies and business and personal stories, Building a Culture of Ownership in Healthcare provides a strong case for investing in people. The authors contrasting accountability with ownership this concept alone is worth taking the time to read this gem.
-Patricia S. Yoder-Wise, EdD, RN, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAAN
President, The Wise Group
--Editor in Chief, The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing
Editor in Chief, Nursing Forum Faculty, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing
These two authors have created a magnificent work of both practical and transformational knowledge in leadership with the how to that so often is missing from books on leadership. Their approach to culture building makes clear the importance of aligning values with not only words, but actions that leaders must deliver with authenticity and presence. The analogy with architecture and infrastructure is visually brilliant, as we are building cultures to stand the test of time and weather the elements of unpredictability and complexity.
-Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, FAAN
