A tree longs to be a Christmas tree, but doesn't look the part, and fears he will never be chosen. He lingers on a rubbish pile until two children come find him. Through the eyes of appreciation, the tree becomes a full-fledged, full-scented, magnificent Christmas tree. It is a wonderful Christmas after all, but most especially for the tree.

"What appears less than beautiful can become beautiful inside. That's what happened to a scrawny tree. The lesson for readers and listeners is simple and deep:... "the greatest gift of all was given to the tree--the gift of appreciation. He now loved what he was, not what he wasn't." That's an important lesson for everyone, not just at Christmas time but all year round. The simple colorful illustrations fit the story very well, nothing pretentious but set the mood." -- Rob Natiuk
"I love this story. This little guy had listened to the tree man who told him he wasn't perfect and he believed it. Until precious children saw his beauty within and took him home to share with their brothers, sisters and mother. It really does show the power of seeing through the eyes of a loving heart. They were grateful and knew he was the one meant for them. It was the love they gave him that fluffed him up with good feelings and he was able to pass these good feelings along to the others around him. What a wonderful way for children and parents to learn to see the beauty within themselves, their friends, family and community. The world will be a different place when these wee ones who grow up with Sally's wisdom and guidance are ruling the world. Thank you Sally Huss." -- Amazon Customer
"I would definitely say this represents Christ and all that Christmas is truly about. It gives several morals that are often forgotten, such as getting to know someone for who they truly Are and not just by what you can see on the outside." -- Gliding with God
"Another under rated and important quality to instill in our kids. Kids pick up messages in all sorts of ways and I find that by reading them this story it gives a great example to reinforce. It's just fun to appreciate people and it's so sweet to be reminded in any way." – MaryAnne
