Shirin’s poems exploit the power of the poetic line and the energy of linguistic sound. To think that such effects can be translated from Persian into English—and the multitude of other languages represented in this collection—is astonishing. These poems are about language as much as they are about betrayals and possibilities. They are as serious as they are playful. Her voice is one to listen to, no matter the language.—Kate Evans, Call It Wonder
