Orphans No More - A Journey Back to the Father is part adoption memoir and part lessons learned about the spirit of adoption. Buckle up for the adventure and discover how you also can be healed of an orphan spirit mindset and live in your full identity as a child of God.
In 1999 Sandra and Wayne Flach were parents of three biological children when God placed an eight-year-old relative into their family. Little did they know, that first step of obedience would lead them to two international adoptions.
While navigating long delays with foreign bureaucracies, the faith-stretching adoption process, and the challenges of parenting wounded children, the Flach family recognized they were not equipped for the journey.
Along the way, they learned about the impact of childhood trauma— including prenatal exposure to alcohol. The Flach’s learned how to parent children with trauma and brain-based disabilities such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Sandra also uncovered a spiritual component to adoption. She found numerous parallels exist between the physical adoption of children and spiritual adoption by our Heavenly Father. We can be born again believers adopted into the family of God and still behave like orphans. Sandra realized, as a child of divorce, she herself carried an orphan spirit mindset.
"Every step of this family's adoption journey required an obedience far greater than the step before. And one bedrock truth drove that obedience...the Word of God." -Jodi Jackson Tucker, author of Second Mother-A Bible Study Experience for Foster & Adoptive Mothers"
