"The odds were against Chris achieving all that he has. He grew up in extreme poverty. His life was filled with domestic violence, as well as mental, physical, and emotional abuse. The public school system was another negative environment for him. Instead of encouraging him to press through learning disabilities such as attention deficit disorder, this environment pegged him as someone incapable of learning--someone to simply be shoved through the system.
