About the Author

Che Frausto grew up in Pasadena, California, where he spent most of his life exploring the outdoors in the Angeles National Forest and Sierra Nevada Mountains. His involvement with the National Forest Service, Outward Bound Adventures, and Student Conservation Association solidified his career path and decision to double major in Biology/Ecology and Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. After earning his degree, he worked a season in the Lassen National Forest. Then he received an AmeriCorps internship with the Maui Nui Seabird Recovery Project in Hawai’i. At an outreach event at a seabird colony on Maui, he saw that people were supportive and wanted to help protect the birds after learning the burrows in the ground belonged to the native birds and were not made by rats and mongoose as they had thought. After that event he realized that people want to help but they cannot protect what they do not know exists. Recognizing a need for wildlife education in order to gain public support, as well as additional funding for these nonprofits, he created Advance Wildlife Education. He combined his passions for wildlife and art in order to form a bridge between the community and biologists. Learn more at AdvanceWildlifeEducation.org
