From the Back Cover

This is more than a book. It marks a moment in history.
The year 2021 was a year like no other. The entire world endured a global pandemic, as well as political and racial unrest. We are all coming out of this experience changed, but nowhere is this more evident than in the autism community. People on the autism spectrum regularly endure major stress just by attempting to function in the world, but suddenly were given the opportunity for a different kind of life--one spent mainly at home. Now that life is changing once again, will people on the spectrum be expected to or wiling to change back? How can we support them in different environments? And is it finally time for a reset of society's expectations for the autistic community?

Life After Lockdown: Resetting Perceptions of Autism explores these questions from a variety of perspectives. Individuals on the spectrum, family members, professionals, and authors provide suggestions and advice, and share their personal experiences. More than 30 chapters from individuals of all ages and backgrounds deal with questions ranging from practical supports to questions about self-advocacy, employment, re-entry into schools, universities, and the community; sensory issues; and anxiety. More importantly, the book explores the hopes and dreams of people on the spectrum for how life could and should look going forward.
