This book comes with over 190 high quality photos, the majority of them in color, and would cost retail as hardcover version over US$ 75 (or the corresponding amount in £ or €), which the author finds excessive. With over 25 books and e-books written about Mercedes-Benz cars, Bernd S. Koehling has proven to be an authority on the brand. The books cover cars from the 1936 170V to the 2012 SL R231.
 
Bernd has been involved in the Mercedes scene since the early 1970s, when he restored a pre-war 170V Cabriolet B. Since then he has not only owned many classic Mercedes, including a 220S, 300d Adenauer, 200D,250SE, 280SE Coupe 3.5, 300SEL, 350SL, 280E, 450SE, SLK230, he has also gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, which he shares with his readers. His other weakness revolves around British cars, here especially Jaguar and Alvis.

Review

I don't think that there is any book available, dealing with the Mercedes 300 and 300S models. This book is excellent. Especially when the author describes driving the car, it gives me the feeling to sit right next to him. This is one of my most favorite parts and I admit to have read the story about experiencing the 300S Roadster three times in two days, because I like it so much:
"Driving the 300S on public roads means that you have to stop occasionally at traffic lights. As I said before, this will not go by unnoticed. Men will look at the car in admiration. Of course they will take a look at you too, but the car is more important. Women will only look at the car for a nano second, and then they will focus on YOU! And I mean women of all ages! Even if they have no clue about cars, they know that this car is bloody expensive"
 
Also the story about Adenauer and his 300s is highly entertaining.
