Vince Clark was a bartender in Chicago for nearly 50 years. He worked the late shift and sometimes after closing, he'd write a quick story or poem while most of the city slept. He explained what her was doing on the back of an old envelope which was found among his writings after his death: "To impress some joy or sorrow upon a scrap of paper and loft it gently into the world." Here are some other scraps as well.
