About the Author

Karen Rees exchanged her life as an Oklahoma farmer's daughter for SE Asian"big city" life when she and her second-generation missionary husband Benjamin began mission work in Hong Kong in 1975.

Over the years they've worked with local Chinese, household servants imported from the Philippines, and Sri Lankan Tamil asylum seekers.As a result, she's eaten chicken's feet, baby octopus cooked in its own ink, barbecued pig's ear, and several other delicacies she chose not to ask about.

Karen is the mother of two, grandmother of three, an avid reader, quilter,writer, lover of history, and a continual learner.
