He is also a board-certified general/vascular surgeon and current in-house surgeon for the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative. This organization provides free medical care to those in need in Bergen County, New Jersey.
In addition to The Rear Admiral, Kagan has published a book on type 2 diabetes and contributed to many other medical publications.
