Synopsis
Die Erzählung spielt in der Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts und handelt vom Pferdehändler Michael Kohlhaas, der gegen ein Unrecht, das man ihm angetan hat, zur Selbstjustiz greift. Historisches Vorbild für diese Novelle von Heinrich von Kleist war das Leben des Kaufmanns Hans Kohlhase, der 1540 in Berlin hingerichtet wurde.

About the Author
Heinrich von Kleist (1777 – 1811) war ein deutscher Dramatiker, Erzähler, Lyriker und Publizist. Bekannt ist er vor allem für das historische Ritterschauspiel „Das Käthchen von Heilbronn“, sein Lustspiel „Der zerbrochne Krug“ und für seine Novellen „Michael Kohlhaas“, „Die Marquise von O....“ und „Das Erdbeben in Chili“. Am 21. November 1811 nahm sich Kleist zusammen mit seiner Begleiterin Henriette Vogel das Leben.
