About the Author

C.C. Bates, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in Literacy Education at Clemson University in South Carolina, where she is the Director of the Reading Recovery and Early Literacy Center. Dr. Bates has a Ph.D. from Georgia State University in Language and Literacy and is a former classroom teacher and reading interventionist.
