This story describes some of the fun and challenges Mr. Wolf and his friends have on Animal Island. Mr. Wolf is the town's home inspector and is currently being blamed by the pigs for their houses falling down. As he explains that houses should not be made of sticks and hay, he tells his friends what really happened. Mr. Wolf is not perfect and accepts that he is partly to blame. At the end of the story, he is thankful for the pigs helping him find a new friend and for giving him some good advice. The Stories in the Well-Mannered Wolf Series promote positive messages and are designed to encourage good behavior by expressing suggestions in a light-hearted style. The text is color-coded (when the animals are talking) to help nudge the kids to take a part in the story.

I was born in California and raised in Wichita, Kansas. When I was young my dad owned a salvage yard and my mom was studying to be a teacher. I have an older brother and two sisters. We didn’t have everything we wanted, but our family didn’t go to bed hungry, and we always had a safe home. It was an interesting childhood. We had fish in the fish tank, homing pigeons, chickens, a horse, and a couple of ponies, plus a dog and a cat. And that was before we moved to the country. I was always a good kid, but that didn’t mean I didn’t get in a little trouble every once in a while. In first grade, my Mom was called to school because I sold paper spitball shooters. I made the shooters out of my parents’ wooden clothespins. I sold them to classmates for a quarter a piece. The money windfall came to an end when kids started shooting at teachers. One of the teachers being shot at was my favorite, Mrs. Youngland. She was one of those people who were willing to give the extra effort that shows how much they care. She made a real difference in my life. Mrs. Youngland stands out the most when I think of being nudged in the right direction. About twelve years ago the direction my family was nudged in was south-east. We moved from Kansas to South Carolina. It’s really great living here. It’s just as friendly as the mid-west but has much better weather. I married Shu Hayes seventeen years ago. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. We have two sons who bring much joy and happiness into our lives. Our oldest son’s name is Davey. He is ten and plans to be an artist. Our youngest son’s name is Jesse. He is almost eight and plans to be a toy designer. They are both considerate and generous. We are very proud of them, but we are always trying to get them to improve in some way, by nudging them in the right direction. We started our company, ‘Nurturing Nudges’ because of our love for kids, imagination, and continuous improvement in ourselves, and others. Our goal is to help kids use their imagination to expand their potential while having fun. The stories in the ‘Well-Mannered Wolf Series’ help promote positive messages and are designed to encourage good behavior by expressing suggestions in a light-hearted style. The first five books in the ‘Well- Mannered Wolf Series’ series will be published by late 2019. Thank you for your interest in this series. I truly hope you enjoy my books as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
