From the Author:
This novel is afact-based account of events affecting thirteen indigenous persons.
"Become the personyou want your neighbour to be." ChiefClifford's instruction in 1961 was my introduction to native culture with allof its tribulations, dreams and achievements.
These stories includeactual accounts of the abused, the homeless, the suicidal, those urgently seekinga world away from their First Nation, and those returning to the nativecommunity to perfect themselves. In all of these narratives, nature remains so verymuch an intricate aspect of their lives.
