The book is and autobiography, covering my career in the oil industry. The book starts when I join the industry as a roughneck working on a drilling rig in Queensland, Australia. I then have an accident on the rigs and move over to working for an oil service company. During this period I get to travel to many countries and enjoy/survive many unusual experiences, including another near death accident. After these adventures I move into management and am eventually posted to work in Aberdeen, Scotland. In Aberdeen I experience the early days of the 'black gold' rush. I tell my story of these pioneer days and recall a number of experiences which will resonate with anyone who worked in the industry at the time. Eventually I stop working for American Oil Service companies and strike out on my own. Over a period of fifteen years I then set up, build and sell three small companies. Once again, my experiences will strike a chord with the various entrepreneurs who took the plunge and survived or failed in their quest to become successful businessmen or women on their own. The book is a lighthearted look at the industry I worked in, and records my adventures. It has been written with a view to being of interest to both oilfield and non-oilfield people, however, the main audience will be people in the industry, as well as their spouses or partners.
