Are we there yet? PEACE IN NORTHERN IRELAND IS A 50 YEAR PROJECT What we have now is an unsettled peace - interviewees in 'Lessons from the Troubles and the Unsettled Peace' consider how Northern Ireland can move from the absence of conflict tot a stable and secure peace. The ideas in this book emerged from the Forward Together podcast conducted by the Holywell Trust, led by Gerard Deane, in which 35 leading thinkers considered how to make progress in Northern Ireland. Those interviewed ranged from community and religious leaders to senior politicians. Their proposals for action went far beyond what we, as programme initiators, expected. We don’t want those ideas to be lost – especially as Northern Ireland’s politics show only stuttering progress and a lack of willingness to commit to genuine partnership.
