Synopsis
Het park is een boek met een droomachtige, claustrofobische sfeer, waarin de verhaallijn vervangen is door een associatieve aaneenschakeling van scènes waarvan niet altijd duidelijk is of ze zich in de werkelijkheid of in de verbeelding van de verteller afspelen. Deze scènes hebben afwisselend betrekking op een geliefde, een in de oorlog verloren vriend en een kind. Vaak wordt ongemerkt gewisseld tussen heden en verleden, en tussen verschillende plaatsen en personages. Het park is bekroond met de Prix Médicis en in zes talen vertaald.
Het park werd in 2000 vertaald door Kiki Coumans voor de Atopieën-reeks van Uitgeverij Perdu. Begin 2021 herzag zij haar vertaling voor deze uitgave.
