Récit d'un voyage promenade, voyage pour le plaisir, sur la ligne du RER, pendant un mois, une station par jour. Prix Novembre 1990.
Donner une épaisseur à des images, à des couleurs, à des êtres noyés dans le chaos apparent des banlieues, déchiffrer cette géographie, retrouver un peu de l'histoire de cette terre et de l'histoire des gens qui l'habitent, tel est leur projet: un voyage comme tous les voyages, pour le plaisir de comprendre et de faire provision de souvenirs.
Voyage unique pourtant. Comme chacun de ces visages aperçus, chacune de ces voix écoutées, au bout d'un jardin ouvrier du tort d'Aubervilliers, au cimetière du Bourget, devant les 4000 de La Courneuve ou sous les tilleuls du canal de l'Ourcq.
Unique encore, Si l'on veut bien suivre Anaïk et François dans cette marche folle, se perdre avec eux dans les grands ensembles, franchir à pied viaducs et autoroutes, s'arrêter un instant au bord d'une écluse. Puis reprendre la route, courir, courir, se perdre à nouveau, pour apercevoir le spectre d'Alexandre Dumas caracolant dans la plaine de France au temps de la Révolution de juillet, pour revivre l'horreur du camp de «Drancy la Juive», ou pour chanter «la Butte rouge» au grand Banquet républicain d'Arcueil. Et recevoir de plein fouet les cent messages superposés qui, comme les tags et les grafs recouvrant les gares traversées, hurlent ou chuchotent la solitude, la colère, la tendresse et l'envie de vivre de ce qui constitue aujourd'hui la vraie France profonde.
