Using the mirror as their motif, seasoned photographers Roland and Sabrina Michaud pair traditional Chinese artworks, some of which date back eight centuries, with their own photographs of China taken over a period of nearly twenty years. The pairings evoke an enduring civilization rooted in faith and tradition and offer a striking comparison between the land, faces, customs, and lifestyles of China and the Chinese, past and present. About the Author
Photographers Roland and Sabrina Michaud have traveled together for nearly fifty years and harbor a special passion for Asia. A four-year car journey across Asia led to the groundbreaking publication in the 1980s of their photographs from Afghanistan. Their fascination with Asia has led them to publish over twenty books on Islamic, Indian, and Chinese art and civilization, including Afghanistan: Paradise Lost, Caravans to Tartary, India of 1001 Nights, The Orient in a Mirror, The Great Wall of China, and Design and Color in Islamic Architecture.
