Ces trois aventures méritaient de profonds remaniements pour se retrouver, au milieu des années quarante, au niveau de qualité graphique et narrative atteint par Hergé à ce moment.Tintin au Congo fut toujours de très bonne vente. On se devait de le sortir rapidement en version couleurs, malgré l'important travail de remaniement jugé nécessaire : quoiqu'à plus de dix ans des indépendances africaines, il fallait adapter l'aventure à l'évolution des sensibilités vis à vis de la colonisation.La nouvelle version de Tintin au Congo sortit en juillet 1946, en même temps que celle de Tintin en Amérique, bientôt suivie par les éditions en couleurs du Lotus et du Sceptre(1947). Ces quatre éditions originales en couleurs sortirent en version dite B1 (référence du BDM) ; soit avec le quatrième plat caractérisé par une nouvelle liste des parutions (avec pour dernier titre Le sceptre d'Ottokar) et le pull à deux couleurs du Capitaine.Le titre de couverture était en réserve blanche sur ciel bleu. il fut remplacé, dès 1948, par un lettrage en noir seul, ce qui permettait l'impression des titres traduits sans modifier d'autres couleurs que le noir.Comme dans beaucoup d'éditions originales, le titre intérieur était imprimé en couleurs, ici en bleu.
