Synopsis
Sterling, onze ans, a trouvé Rascal, jeune raton laveur malicieux et attachant, au creux d'une souche dans les bois. Dans sa nouvelle famille comprenant un père distrait, quatre mouffettes, des marmottes, une corneille surnommée Edgar Poe et un canoë long de cinq mètres cinquante en chantier dans la salle de séjour, Rascal devient l'inséparable compagnon de Sterling: ils mangent, dorment et vont à l'école ensemble. Au cours d'une année fertile en aventures, Rascal et Sterling nagent, pêchent et explorent la campagne -jusqu'au jour où le printemps revient et où tout change brusquement. Ce récit autobiographique et touchant de l'amitié d'un garçon avec un animal sauvage, l'un et l'autre s'éveillant peu à peu au monde qui les entoure, est devenu un classique. Rascal a pris sa place parmi les animaux les plus captivants et les plus attendrissants de la littérature.

About the Author
Né en 1906, Thomas Sterling North est un auteur américain de livres pour la jeunesse. Son titre le plus connu, Rascal, s'inspire d'un épisode de son enfance. Il a reçu de nombreux prix et a fait l'objet d'une adaptation cinématographique par Walt Disney en 1969.
