Régine Deforges (1935-2014) est née dans le Poitou. Très tôt, les livres constituent son univers d’élection : elle devient tour à tour libraire, relieur, éditeur, écrivain, scénariste et réalisateur. Elle ouvre plusieurs librairies, tant à Paris qu’en province, et crée, en 1968, sa propre maison d’édition, L’Or du temps, et devient de ce fait la première femme éditeur française. Le premier livre qu’elle publie, Irène, attribué à Louis Aragon, est saisi quarante-huit heures après sa mise en vente. Dès cet instant, Régine Deforges se bat et ne cessera plus de se battre pour défendre la liberté d’expression sous toutes ses formes. En 1981, elle connaît son plus grand succès de librairie avec la parution de La Bicyclette bleue qui obtient le prix des Maisons de la Presse. Régine Deforges a écrit près de quatre-vingts livres de genres extrêmement variés : des romans, des nouvelles, des essais, des entretiens, des chroniques, ainsi que quelques scénarios, chansons ou dessins.
